SUN ‘n FUN 2025 Features Blue Angels -Draws Aviation Enthusiasts from Across the Globe
The SUN ‘n FUN Aerospace Expo that takes place in Lakeland each year is one of the largest and most successful aviation events in the world. This year they celebrate 51 years of the event, with “Turn Up the Fun At 51” being the motto.



With more than 200,000 visitors coming to SUN ‘n FUN each year, this event isn’t one you want to miss. Taking place April 1-6 this year, spectators have 6 days to see a dozen different unique planes up close, learn more about the aviation industry, and even camp on the grounds if you so choose.
Gene Conrad, President and CEO of SUN ‘n FUN and the Aerospace Center for Excellence (ACE), and former chair for the CFDC Board of Directors, is thrilled for their 51st year hosting this event. “We are so excited to Turn Up the Fun at SUN n FUN 51! Our team has spent the last year turning the dial to create the ‘FUNNEST’ SUN ‘n FUN experience yet. Each day is packed with airplanes, programming, and experiences that will leave your feet tired and your aviation heart full. It is incredible to see the growth and innovations that continue to attract more visitors, highlighting aviation and stimulating the local economy.”

SUN ‘n FUN 2025 Airshow Highlights
The fun to be had at SUN ‘n FUN is truly endless- there is something for everyone here.
Of course, there are the renowned airshows. Airshows take place everyday, sometimes twice a day.
One of the best known performers of the airshow are the Blue Angels. The Blue Angels have been around since 1946. They represent the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps, showcasing the beyond impressive precision and power of naval aviation.
They will begin their shows with practice and arrival on April 3, and official shows the final 3 days of the event.
However, there is an incredible list of airshow performers alongside the Blue Angels. The Warbirds, commemorative air force pilots, Red Bull Air Force, Redline Airshows, Jack Aces, and the Great Lakes Drone Company are just a few others who will headline at SUN ‘n FUN.
The Island
One special feature at SUN ‘n FUN 2025 is access to “The Island”. Located in the very center of the campground, the Island will offer everything spectators need, from meals & groceries, restrooms & showers, a rideshare and tram system, and daily entertainment options.
The schedule at the Island will feature movie nights the first 2 nights of the Fly-In. The next 4 days will rotate between live music featuring artists like Angie K, and more movie nights.

Other Offerings
Along with the airshow and activities surrounding it, there are many other happenings at SUN ‘n FUN as well, including the celebration of the Women ACEs Program.
There is a special Women ACEs Breakfast on April 2 the honor women in aviation. It will feature a keynote speaker, an interview with a special guest, and a panel discussion.
If you want to be active while attending SUN ‘n FUN, there are several options for this. On April 3, there will be a sunrise zumba class. Then, the 2025 SUN ‘n RUN 5K race takes place on April 5. The course goes through the Lakeland Linder International Airport- you will have the opportunity to run or walk while surrounded by places and aviation excitement.
For the Kids
Have a kid between the age of 7-17 interested in aviation? There are dozens of fun activities on the grounds for kids who want to learn more and immerse in the world of aviation and aerospace.
The Junior ACEs are a nonprofit organization that will have 3 locations on the grounds for kids to enjoy. A few activities with the Junior ACEs includes building a pilot tube, learning coding skills, flight simulations and more.


There is also a kids club where kids ages 2-10 can be dropped off and entertained each night with fun themed activities, ran by certified sitters.
Careers in Aviation
For those interested in a career in aviation or are just curious to know more, there is also a Career Fair at SUN ‘n FUN. There is a Career Fair Tent right by the main gates at the Future ‘n Flight Plaza.
The Career Expo has been expanded to 6 full days- Tuesday through Sunday. Polk County continues to build the future of aviation, so don’t miss out!
