  • Franwell, a leader in the research, development and implementation of RFID technology for supply chain operations, is headquartered in Lakeland. Franwell provides RFID solutions for enhancing business value in the food, pharmaceutical and cargo industries. Outside of these industries, Franwell has also developed an RFID solution used by NASCAR for ensuring compliance by race teams.
  • Through its Supply Chain Management Institute, Polk State College teaches RFID technology, Information Systems for Logistics, Procurement and Supply Management and Logistics Management.
  • One of Polk County’s oldest companies – Publix Super Markets – has piloted RFID technology for tracking fresh food shipments while one of our newest firms – WellDyneRx - employs RFID applications in its management and flow of pharmaceuticals.
  • Solicore, a worldwide leader in embedded power solutions, manufactures lithium polymer batteries. These battery applications have numerous RFID uses, including electronic shelf labels, inventory-powered tags, time and temperature indicators and supply chain tracking with increased read distance and information storage.
  • The University of South Florida Polytechnic in Lakeland performs research and teaches Supply Chain Logistics, RFID, Programmable Logic Control, Robotics and will ultimately develop a fabrication facility to design and build new RFID components.
  • Innovatier offers packaging solutions at low temperature and low pressure for active RFID and powered cards. Applications include financial transaction cards, display technology and security credentials.
